Jan was born in Corvallis, Oregon in 1949. He attended Oregon State University (OSU) and graduated from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in 1974. He immediately went to work at Pozzi, Wilson & Atchison, a highly acclaimed law firm in Portland, Oregon, where he was mentored by several of the premier plaintiff attorneys in the state.
As an adjunct law professor for 10 years, Jan has voluntarily sponsored a trial advocacy seminar at his alma mater, Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Like those before him, he regularly serves as a mentor to graduating law students and to young lawyers in the community, many of whom he has helped secure employment following their graduation.
In 1995, Jan was inducted into The Inner Circle of Advocates - the highest honor of his career. Membership in The Inner Circle is limited to 100 plaintiff trial lawyers in America who have achieved multiple million-dollar jury verdicts and is by-invitation-only. Inner Circle member lawyers unselfishly share information with one another for the benefit of the individuals and families they represent in courtrooms across the United States.
Jan Baisch is a member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers which is limited to 500 lawyers in the world. He is a Past President of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and of the Oregon Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1993.
